Secrets & Mysteries of Hawaii--the only book I won't loan November 28, 2004 Kala (Alexandria, VA) 40 out of 42 found this review helpful
I "stumbled" onto Secrets & Mysteries of Hawaii on my first trip to the Big island. I couldn't put the book down...read it in 2 days. I found it confirming of my own experiences on other islands and other trips to Hawaii; I found it breathtaking in its descriptions of the energies of the islands and the interconnectedness with the rest of the earth. I have told many people about it. I have given copies to people...but my copy never is far from my side.
If you haven't been to Hawaii and want to know why it "pulls" so many, this is the book for you. If you are planning a trip to Hawaii, this is a "must read." If you have been to Hawaii, and know it is "home," this is also a "must read."
This Book is a Gem May 13, 2002 Regina Chiles (Vienna, Austria) 28 out of 30 found this review helpful
So many wonderful reviews about this remarkable book in regards to its magic, depth and humor have already been written.
I can agree with every single word, any reviewer has stated, completely.
Thus I would like to point out another special passage of Pila's guidebook which turned out to be a very touching message for my personal life. The "Call to the Soul" stepped into my world coincidentally before I went to Kaua'i, Hawaii, in order to meet Goddess Pele.
Amongst so many lines full of marvellous depth there were also these two sentences, since then decorating the wall of my apartment, saying:
"And all along the way of life there were only the three things that counted. Something to do, something to look forward to, and the third one, that blessing, if it ever happens... someone to share it with."
Each soul has its own yearning, every person is seeking individual truth.
Many magic things happened since I read this book. And they led me eventually to Pila's personal "Akashic Life Path Readings" which definitely changed my life!
I will reread this book and return to Hawaii soon...
"We are not alone!" March 26, 2006 Willliam A. Sheley (Jefferson City, MO) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
I visited the Big Island for the first time 11 years ago. The first morning's sunrise was an experience I'll never forget. I've been to the 50th State 11 times now, 9 of them to Kona. I thought it was just "silly me" until I read Pila's book. Some of his explanations may seem a bit "off-the-wall" but at least I have the consolation of knowing that I am not alone in having a profound mystical experience of "something more" in what has become for me truly "holy ground." For anyone who has ever visited Hawai`i and especially the Big Island and come away feeling that there was more than originally bargained for, this book is a "must read."
One of the best books I've ever read September 1, 2003 Kali (Oxnard, Ca USA) 17 out of 19 found this review helpful
Pila's book is a real calling to the soul. I have owned this book for seven years and still refer to it often. Pila has a way of getting to your heart and reminding you of things and a culture long forgotten. I finished this book in one reading. It really helped me thru my healing process. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in Hawaiian culture & history or anyone going thru their healing process. Although I have never been to Hawaii Pila has a way of making you think you have been there many times before. He also has a lot of insight into the human psyche. It's jsut such a great book I can't say enough about it.
Remarkable! April 18, 2001 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
This book came into my life as a most timely coincidence. Now I know why I have been drawn to Hawaii for so long. I only wish that everyone who has ever had an inkling to visit the islands of paradise could read this wonderful book beforehand. If you are searching for answers, this little gem has more in it than just a great vacation. I have vowed to share it with everyone on Wall Street. Thank you 'Pila'! -C. MacPherson, Esq.
